BEWARE – HM Revenue & Customs Phishing Email!!!
A phishing email is circulating stating it from HM Revenue & Customs and advising of an ‘Unsuccessful Submission’. Should you receive an email of this nature, please be aware as it may be a scam containing a virus! There are three points to review that will help identify if it is a phishing email:
- HM Revenue & Customs will not provide a link on receipts of online submissions. The phishing email provides a link asking you to ‘View Submission’.
- Check the PAYE reference. Does the reference match your PAYE records? We believe the phishing email uses a generic reference.
- Check the senders email address. HM Revenue & Customs official email address for receipts of online submissions is firstname.lastname@example.org.
Should you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
