  • Managing Partner - Paul Thatcher

    I am a Chartered Accountant with over 25 years experience providing a range of accountancy services to individuals and businesses on the South Coast. I pride myself in helping businesses plan and increase value for owners and stakeholders.

    Over the last 25 years, 10 were spent as a partner in a large regional firm.  My portfolio grew to one of the largest in the practice, due to my efficient and personal approach to client service. From an audit perspective, I have significant experience in providing this service to clients particularly in the property, technology, manufacturing and service industries.

    I have worked with a number of clients in providing finance director roles, helping businesses to raise capital, set up financial systems and assisting in exit strategies.

    In my personal time I like to keep active and am a particularly keen cyclist. When I am not exercising you can normally find me socialising with friends and family.

    Having stumbled into a career in tax on leaving school, I’ve worked in about every area of tax possible, along the way gaining vast experience and professional qualifications.  Recently I’ve settled into general practice but specialise in IHT planning, looking after those running owner managed businesses as well as those clients with more demanding issues such as those relating to residency and domicile.

    Outside of work, I love spending time with family and friends and if that can include my passion for yoga, running, cycling or tai chi then that’s all the better!

    I have experience in working within accountancy practices for over 16 years and have worked closely alongside Paul in an organisation and administration role for the majority of these years.

    My role ensures the smooth and efficient running of the Practice both for staff and clients.

    Outside of the office I enjoy country and beach walks with my husband and Labrador, together with traveling and socialising with friends and family.

    I have 20 years’ experience in practise and industry, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to role.  This has been gained from having worked with a variety of small and medium size businesses in practice, and financial controller/finance manager of national firms in the UK.

    Outside of the office my time is mainly taken up with family activities, playing golf and am watching formula one.

    My career in accountancy began in 2014 when I decided to give the AAT course a try. It turned out to be the best decision I ever made and soon after I started working at a small firm managing the payroll department and assisting with personal tax services.

    A year later I qualified as an accounting technician and launched myself into studying to become a chartered accountant. I joined the accounts team at THL in 2015 and have found my career progress at a great pace as I work with a wide range of clients.

    My background prior to accountancy is fairly diverse, including financial services, publishing and the beauty industry, and I draw on this wherever possible in my work at THL.

    A lot of my time out of the office is dedicated to studying for ACCA exams but I like to break that up as much as possible by getting outdoors for bike rides and dog walks.

    I have worked in the accountancy industry for approximately 8 years, focusing my qualifications on Business Administration and Payroll. After attending Northbrook College to complete NVQ in Business & Administration, I studied and qualified in Level 2 AAT Payroll Administration at Brighton College of Technology.

    With 6 years’ experience of dealing with various sized payrolls and processes, I enjoy the challenge of ever changing HMRC and PAYE Regulations and working alongside clients to meet their needs.

    Away from work, music and socialising is one of main enjoyments, along with yoga, fitness and travelling.

    My path into accountancy began with bookkeeping for a small family business. It was from this experience that I realised that I wanted to concentrate my future in accountancy.

    I am currently studying AAT level 3 in Accounting at Northbrook College, as well as completing the last year of Bachelor of Science in Business Management, through The University of Business, Arts and Technology (RISEBA) in Latvia. My future plans are to continue my education and complete ACCA.

    My previous studies and qualifications include Law BTEC level 3 Subsidiary Diploma and IFS Financial level 3 Diploma.

    In my spare time, I love to read and keep active, as well as spending quality time with my family and dog.

    Since leaving school, the majority of my work has been in administrative roles spreading across various industries.

    My role focuses on clerical duties, supporting the team and communicating with clients. It is my responsibility to help ensure the smooth efficiency of our service.

    Outside of work, the majority of my time is spent with my family and running around after my son.
